The University’s primary logo signifies the organization as a whole. In contrast, logo lock-ups show the relationship between the University and its schools. As shown below, you can download our pre-made logo lock-ups.
(1) The Rotunda mark signifies UVA's timelessness
(2) The vertical separator creates a traditional feel
(3) Adobe Caslon Pro Semibold set in all-caps combined with italicized secondary words creates a cohesive relationship with our primary logo
You can also create lock-ups with an additional level of information, typically to signify a department or unit within a school. Additional information regarding Department and Unit Lock-ups is available within these guidelines.
Primary
This version is recommended for applications where your available space is more horizontal than vertical. Some examples include letterhead, reports and web banners.
In cases where a degree of formality is appropriate, the version with the Primary UVA logo is recommended. You can achieve a slightly less formal feel by using the version with the UVA Monogram.
Vertical
The vertical version is designed for applications where horizontal space is limited. Some examples may include envelopes, banners and trifold brochures.
In cases where a degree of formality is appropriate, the version with the Primary UVA logo is recommended, but you can also achieve a slightly less formal feel by using the version with the UVA Monogram.
Short Form
You can use this version for more casual situations, for example, on promotional items. It is appropriate for audiences who are already familiar with your school and do not need its full name and description.
Centered
This version is for more casual situations and is recommended for applications where your available space is more vertical than horizontal (i.e. web banners). It is appropriate for audiences who are already familiar with your school and do not need its full name and description.
Color Variations
School lock-ups are available in full-color, one-color and reverse (knockout) variations. Foundation lock-ups are only available in full-color.
Preferred Full-Color Logos
The Pantone, CMYK or RGB full-color logos are preferred. Use Pantone or CMYK for any print use such as collateral or business materials. Use RGB for electronic use such as PowerPoint presentations, digital or video.
One-Color Logos
Use the solid color scheme when full-color printing is not an option and for applications such as embossing, debossing, die-cutting or extrusion.
Reverse (Knockout) Logos
Use the reverse logos for applications on color or photographic backgrounds. Use the two-color reverse logo on solid blue backgrounds only. Always ensure that the background you choose provides sufficient contrast for the logo.
